About Bullish Lemon

Hi, I’m Michelle. I’m currently an economics student at UChicago. This is my personal Substack!

Given that this is a personal blog, I mostly plan to write about whatever strikes my fancy, but in case you want to quickly screen the vibes, here are some broad subjects that I take variable interest in — economics (shocker), policy (especially science & tech policy), effective altruism, philosophy, sociology, buddhism, psychology, rationality.

My 3 main goals with this blog are:

  1. Developing my thoughts. Turning concepts of an idea into cogent arguments. Bonus points if I get constructive criticism or comments, but no expectations there.

  2. Improving current friendships. A new source of fuel to add to the conversational fire. If you’re reading this, this probably applies to you. Maybe something we’ve debated will end up here—look out!

  3. Making new friends. I’ve heard blogs can make this happen. Big if true. (Feel free to comment & message.)

Enjoy!

P.S. If you’re wondering about the blog name—it just randomly popped into my head while I was compiling my drafts. My post hoc justification is that “lemon” represents my critical and picky nature, while “bullish” conveys that in spite of that, I’m anti-cynicism, as well as rather confident and fond of the ideas that I do subscribe to. Tada.
